Each day early in the morning, local shopkeepers rise early, make their way to the main plaza area and begin preparing for the day's shopping tourists. As they sweep and organize, the streets and walkways begin to come alive with color. Nothing can match the brillant turquoises and fuschas and yellows which somehow combine to ooze the flavor of tropical Mexico.
While there is nothing in the stores that is actually manufactured or made here, shoppers can find some real values and interesting items. Shopping malls offer everything from high dollar jewelry, designer sunglasses and name brand watersports attire while the entrepreneur 'mom & pop" shops overflow with handcrafted and novelty items. If you are looking to recall the flavor of Cozumel and your tropical vacation, try to locate the unique, colorful, handmade or hand painted items. These artisan items will probably never be priceless artifacts but a hand carved and painted walking cane or wooden box never loses its appeal and will always serve as a lovely reminder of your tropcial vacation time in Cozumel.

The Hard Rock Café offers the best rock and the best food with live music, restaurant, bar and boutique. Located in the Park Royal Village Shopping Center, just across from the TMM/SSA International Pier, it's a fantastic place to go and watch the sunset, grab a nice snack or meal and have a cool, refreshing cocktail! Pacsadeli is really a restaurant supply wharehouse but has a small front section open to the public. Since restaurants cater to tourist food needs, this is the place to go for those tough to find food items on the island that ex-pats are accostomed to using. Much of their stock is restaurant size bulk items but they do break many bulk items open for sale to regular customers. They have an excellent selection of meat cuts (frozen) and is often one of the few places a turkey can be obtained for Thanksgiving. |

La Feria (The Fair) is an unusual collection of shops arranged like flea market vendor's stalls. You will find a variety of items from electronic gadgets to clothes. A great selection of portable CD, MP3, and DVD players is on hand, as well as headphones, portable speakers, batteries of all kinds, and battery chargers. Also lighters, T-shirts, flashlights, watches, shoes, and novelty items are on sale. It's plenty of fun to walk through and browse. |
