A Personal Note from Sherri "Welcome to 2025!!"
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed some spectacular holidays in December getting together with family and friends to enjoy good food and good company! And hopefully your New Year’s celebration was filled with love, joy and the clinking of many glasses of something! Each year seems to pass faster now as I get older and it really begins to sink in just how limited and precious our time here on earth is and how it’s more important than ever to take nothing for granted….not one minute, not one person, not one thing! Treasure them all! So as we start this New Year with great anticipation of all good things to come, I will suggest once again: be kind, be grateful and be compassionate ~ to each other, to animals, to our planet. These are all we really have in this life! I wish nothing but the best for each of you in 2025!!
JANUARY 2025 UPDATE: Despite what most people think, we DO actually have a Winter here in Cozumel albeit mild or non-existent according to most of our Snowbirds that come down for the winter season each year. So it's been a bit of a chilly month for us as is typical this time of year which for us is 70F's in the day and low 60F's at night. You can really tell the locals from the visitors as you go out in the evening hours here on the island. After dark, visitors will usually be leisurely walking around in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops while locals who live on the island will be in tennis shoes, jeans, a sweater and usually a parka on top of that with the hood up and walking briskly as if another minute outside will invoke frostbite. So just remember if you're out somewhere trying to ask a local for directions this time of year, don't take it personally if they hurry away ~ it's simply their way of saying they're freezing!!
FEBRUARY 2025 UPDATE: The chilly weather continues here albeit at night more so than daytime. It's finally stopped raining daily thank goodness! Seriously since about September 2024, Cozumel has had rain daily somewhere in the city. Granted it wasn't prolonged all day kinda stuff but a goodly amount each day to keep the cars dirty and the potholes open. So now things have dried out a bit, city workers are finally able to go around and fill/repair the street potholes. This is a good thing since often the only warning of a huge road hole is a tree branch stuck in it by some kind soul who knows it could be there for months causing trouble for everyone!
During the years 2000 - 2006 I had the privilege of serving on the Municipio's Carnaval Committee. Part of my duties included fundraising within the American ex-pat community of islanders. The donations received were used to provide financial assistance to the kinder, grade school and high school group comparsas wanting to compete and participate in Carnaval. Assisting children of all ages to be able to participate from a young age in their schools helps ensure the Carnaval tradition will stay alive for years to come just as it has now for 151 years on the island!
So for those of you who so generously donated all those years ~ many years totaling more than US$ 10,000 in donations ~ please come, join us for Carnaval and see the fruits of your endeavors! For those kiddos of 2000 - 2006 who received the financial aid are now late teens and early 20's and many are vying for the King and Queen positions as well as participating in new and different comparsa groups other than those associated with their schools. As Carnaval passes generation to generation, you donors can feel proud to have contributed a small part to continuing the tradition!
Cozumel Carnaval is serious business each year ~ it's an event that enjoys 151 years of tradition on the island so it's one of those truly authentic events of the island that is not necessarily designed with tourism in mind! It's a six week long "locals" tradition and as such, the scheduling and ticket sales are designed with locals in mind. The tourism element of Carnaval does exist though since most all shows and competitions that go on for all those weeks are also done "free of charge" in the open air parks for tourists to experience. And then of course, there are the parades of Carnaval week which everyone can enjoy and all the wonderful concerts in the parks.
This month Carnaval activities are underway these days and continue until Fat Tuesday March 4th when Carnaval 2025 culminates with the biggest parade and the big FREE concert as the parade ends. So there is still time to get yourself a ticket and get down here to enjoy all the festivities through Tuesday night and then the closing ceremonies and Burning of Juan Carnaval on Wednesday! Hope to see you here!!
MARCH 2025 UPDATE: Carnaval ran late this year with Fat Tuesday falling on March 4th so needless to say the month started off quickly and hasn't slowed down since! As we transitioned all the Carnaval visitors off the island, Spring Breakers started arriving and now with the end of the month approaching a lot of our "Snowbirds" will be leaving and heading back north to their homes as the weather warms up. We've had wonderful weather so far this season on the island with lots of bright sunny days and calm, clear seas which really keeps the divers and snorkelers very happy! We're now headed into Cozumel's prime fishing season (although you can catch fish all year!) with lots of tournaments and such going on. It could be you have yet to take your Spring Break or perhaps you want to have an early Summer vacation this year so either way, get busy planning and get on down here! This tropical island paradise is always better when shared with others!

I just wanted to let you know that my family and I enjoyed the Cozumel Marine Turtle Observation opportunity immensely. The experience was everything we'd hoped it would be and more. It was truly magical watching green and loggerhead turtles coming in from the sea, digging holes, and laying their eggs. We will never forget this experience. Thank you so much for your help in arranging it for us. R. Ashton ~ Bethesda, MD USA

Less than an hour ago, I booked a dolphin swim package through your website. You have already confirmed my order with exactly what we wanted! I was really in a panic because when I tried to book directly through the Dolphin website, they said there was nothing available. I had read great things about your company on the on one of the popular message boards. I have to agree they are true! Thanks so much for your prompt service! I know this experience will be a great memory for my kids! L. Walker ~ Crosby, TX

Hello my name is Brent C. and I did the Turtle Observation & Release in June. I can honestly not put into words how great and breathtaking the whole experience was! it has always been a dream of mine to watch turtles nest up close and personal but you guys topped that dream and did even better! I almost cried tears of joy when i found out I got to get up close and help remove the turtle eggs as she was laying them! I plan on becoming a marine biologist one day and this whole experience has pushed me farther into my passion for marine biology! I can not say thank you enough! Also cant forget the helpful crew of young men and women that helped us along the night and where ever so kind! Here is a picture of the green sea turtle I named April after she had laid her eggs! Thanks and God Bless Brent ~ USA

Sherri, I was browsing Cozumel Websites the last few days. I came across yours. I have never found a website so detailed to a destination in my life! You supply all the information a traveler could ever want!
You give us how to get there, what to do while we are there, where to stay, how to travel, what to do if we get sick, where to eat, and it just goes on and on!
Thank you for taking the time that you spent in making this my new favorite site!
I wish every vacation destination had a site like this! BRAVO! J.Piere ~ Simi Valley CA
