A Personal Note from Sherri "10 Year Milestone: Emily & Wilma"
Sherri Davis - Owner/Operator CozumelInsiderIt’s been an incredible late Summer and Fall Season here on the island and our peak hurricane risk months of August, September and October are passing us by without a hint of even a tropical storm! Actually up until just the past few days, we experienced virtually no storms and very little rain this year during what is known as the “rainy season” for us. That being said, I think the rain gods decided to get us caught up on rainfall this year by giving us downpours for the past 6 days! I think everything I own is wet right now! Ha ha!! But that’s how it goes living on a tropical island paradise ~ some days you just get wet!

The good news is that we have sunny skies once again in our forecast this week and as late as it’s getting now in October, we’re all very hopeful the hurricane season will end uneventfully for us. I would be remiss to let these days pass by without stopping to pause and remember them as the 10th Anniversary of Hurricanes EMILY and WILMA hitting the island in 2005. Cozumel received a direct hit from both of these Category 4 strength storms and, as it turns out, WILMA is still considered the biggest storm to ever pass through the Atlantic Ocean.

Take a moment if you will and visit the
webpages we created during and just after WILMA. It’s interesting to read our perspectives of the time and see all the photos. And then 1 year later the “Then & Now” Photos we published to demonstrate how far we had come in our recovery in just 1 year. We literally “felt the love” that year with millions of hits on this website and thousands of emails wishing us well and offering support.

While the residual effects of EMILY & WILMA are fading from memory, for those of us here who survived those storms they still serve as an important “mile marker” in time since the economic impact lingered for years. I personally am reminded daily of those events since I live surrounded by an area covered with jungle growth. From my third floor balcony it’s easy to look across the tree tops and find dozens of dead tree trunks that tower above the existing green foliage. Ten years later, the jungle still has not recovered to the height it was when EMILY & WILMA hit the island. But one day, we’ll get there and I’ll look across the jungle and see nothing but green!

We’re doing all the final “prep steps” before high season kicks off here in a few weeks and it’s time for you to do the same! So get online or speak with your travel agent and start making your plans now to visit Cozumel this Winter Season.
We’re here….ready for you to arrive!

Sherri ~ WOW!!! We just returned from our cruise! What a wonderful time we had!! Your bookings for our Dolphin snorkel adventure and Sea Trek were the highlight of the cruise. They were easy and saved us about half the cost of booking through the cruise line. We simply hopped into a cab and spent the day at the Park (we could have spent a week there.) They were even able to work us into the Sea Trek early. All the people were friendly, helpful and overall just treated us great. While we were standing around waiting a short little man came up and ask if we wanted a snorkel tour. I instantly remembered what you had said and looked at his name tag. It was Mario! His tour was fantastic! If you see him ask him if he remembers Señor Ed and his family (he never caught that my name was Ted, but that’s okay!) I had a waterproof digital camera and he snapped lots of pictures of us. We had a wonderful time and much of it was thanks to you, your website and staff!

I know you probably get lots of pictures but I had to send you three. Look at the smiles on my boy’s faces. That says it all! Thank you so much for all your help and advice. We can’t wait to return. Your website is the first place we will stop! I wish we could have met in person. We will next time! T. Mahler Family ~ Howe ,TX

Hello, I want to let you know that I visit your website all the time! I love it, so much information. I used you as a resource when I came to Cozumel for the first time about 2 years ago. Although my soon-to-be wife was there before, I needed to do some of my own homework. As for her, she and I will be getting married on June 22 at Hotel Cozumel and we are both really excited about it. I am so happy that you are able to put this website together for people like us who love Cozumel and can't be there as much as we want to be. Thanks again! John DeMaio ~ Milford, CT, USA

My husband and I lived in Cozumel for just over 6 months and completly LOVED it! We spent most of our time on the other side of the Island where it is just a completely different world. I highly recommend Cozumel to anyone travelling to the Mayan Riviera. I know so many people who go to Cancun, but have never been to Cozumel even though it is only about 40 minutes away! Take advantage of this beautiful Island!!! A. McIntosh ~ Toronto, Canada

Thank you again for being so helpful! Have a blessed day! :) K. Shields ~ Little Rock, Arkansas USA

Sherri, I was browsing Cozumel Websites the last few days. I came across yours. I have never found a website so detailed to a destination in my life! You supply all the information a traveler could ever want!

You give us how to get there, what to do while we are there, where to stay, how to travel, what to do if we get sick, where to eat, and it just goes on and on!

Thank you for taking the time that you spent in making this my new favorite site!

I wish every vacation destination had a site like this! BRAVO! Jim Piere ~ Simi Valley CA 93063
