Cozumel to Holbox Whale Shark Snorkel Day Trip |
|
This is an excellent day trip for Cozumel visitors who want to snorkel with whale sharks and visit Isla Holbox at the same time. Isla Holbox is considered the original home of the whale sharks and all of the whale shark snorkel trips used to originate out of this island. But over the years the whale shark population has grown and moved and is now accessible from both Holbox and Cancun.
A day trip to visit Isla Holbox and snorkel with whale sharks will take you on a journey through the Yucatan peninsula and then on to Isla Holbox where the snorkel adventure will begin.
Offering the only highly personalized service for this lengthy but amazing adventure to Holbox, this whaleshark tour provider has the "inside track" on finding whalesharks from family who actually live right in the area where the whalesharks congregate!
Experience this once in a lifetime opportunity to snorkel with whale sharks known as gentle giants of the sea. The Mexican Caribbean is home to this mysterious wonder of nature July through September as whale sharks migrate through the area. The adventure begins bright and early as guests meet their guide for departure to the mainland. On the mainland guests are transported by comfortable vehicles with A/C to the coastal departure point for the whaleshark expedition. A friendly guide accompanies everyone throughout the entire day's journey to point out the highlights of the expedition as well as to share information about these remarkable whale sharks.
Once at the coastal departure point, guests will board a panga type fishing boat which will travel to the Open Ocean Natural Reserve. This is where the high concentration of plankton annually attracts the whale sharks for feeding, mating and basking in the shallows below the surface. When the whale sharks are spotted participants enter the water a few at a time and get to snorkel and swim alongside these gentle giants of the sea. Other participants will be busy taking pictures or video from on board the boat. After the encounter, guests enjoy some soft drinks as the boat heads for a typical Caribbean fishing village where there will be about 1 hour of free time to enjoy a buffet lunch and wander around to interact with the people or bargain for treasures before heading back to Cozumel. |

Hello my name is Brent C. and I did the Turtle Observation & Release on June 27th. I can honestly not put into words how great and breathtaking the whole experience was! it has always been a dream of mine to watch turtles nest up close and personal but you guys topped that dream and did even better! I almost cried tears of joy when i found out I got to get up close and help remove the turtle eggs as she was laying them! I plan on becoming a marine biologist one day and this whole experience has pushed me farther into my passion for marine biology! I can not say thank you enough! Also cant forget the helpful crew of young men and women that helped us along the night and where ever so kind! Here is a picture of the green sea turtle I named April after she had laid her eggs! Thanks and God Bless Brent C ~ USA

What a great Experience!!! We booked our excursions through this website with a slight bit of apprehension. We figured it would be safer to book through our cruise ship since this was our first time going to Cozumel. Boy am I so thankful we didn't. Our cruise ship (which we thoroughly enjoyed) had many excursions organized with tons of people in each excursion. By booking through INSIDER we were definitely given smaller groups to be with. We did the Atlantis Submarine excursion and we saved almost 100 dollars right there!!! We also booked a Resort Scuba with Eagle Ray Divers. We had 1-on-1 attention with Antonio (the owner), our own boat to go out on, and got personalized attention with the lesson/dive. I know if we had booked on the cruise ship there probably would've been many other people ... Also, we originally booked a car rental for that Saturday morning. Jacqueline @ Cozumel Insider, called us at home prior to our cruise to inform us of some minor scheduling changes. She then suggested that the rental car may not be neccessary due to our number of excursions and our limited time. Due to her advice we cancelled our car rental which was the wise thing to do. This shows that this company has a lot of integrity and is not out there just to make a buck on the unsuspecting tourist. Next year we will definitely book through Cozumel Insider, we will recommend this company to all our friends, and we plan on booking with Antonio for more scuba next time!!!! Sherri...thank you again so very much for your fantastic website and for your excellent stories on life in Cozumel. We fellow Texans that are not fortunate enough to actually live there are able to do it through you and we are all extremely grateful...and incredibly envious! Having been an airline employee until retirement I have been lucky to have been down island over 20 times and it NEVER gets old. I thought I knew all about Cozumel, but was delighted to learn of new things and places through you and your website. Your current posting of how you came to Cozumel was so cool. You really need to work on that book! Congrats on this milestone, and continued luck and success in all you do. See you in September for our annual trip down for my birthday and Mexican Independence Day. M. Goodwin ~ Dallas, Texas
