A Personal Note from Sherri "Lovely Swallows of Low Season" Well from my standpoint, Spring Break and April were just a big blur as we have been super busy and the weather has been absolutely fantastic here on the island! The Spring rains have not yet begun and it’s not been too terribly hot yet either so in between villa guests and beach visitors we’ve been able to get a good many projects completed. Here at the beach, we’re finishing up all of our Spring cleaning now and doing our pre-hurricane season prep work so I’m about to kick back and chug some champagne from my balcony in celebration of another close to a wonderful high season! I know…I should support the local economy and drink Mexican beer but sometimes it’s just not a beer day!
You know lots of folks are here in the winter months and for obvious reasons ~ it’s a great time to be in Cozumel so as to escape the cold weather. But many are sort of “put off” by the sheer volume of tourists we have now on the island during high season. If that applies to you, then I urge you to consider planning a trip to Cozumel during one of our beautiful “off season” months. As an example, this month of May the number of cruise ships arriving to the island is only one third of the high season volume so it’s as if there’s literally no one here! It may be too late to plan a quick Mother’s Day getaway but you still have time to make it for Memorial Day! Give it a try ~ you might be surprised at how the slower, laid back pace of “low season” appeals to you!
While you consider that vacation option, I’ll leave you with this video of a wonderful sighting of Cozumel Swallows that I had last week. Seems you can change the name of the island to “Island Of Peace” or “Home Port” or whatever to try to be “trendy” or gain more tourism but really the Maya got it right the first time. Cozumel is…and always will be… the Island of Swallows and wow ~ how incredibly lovely they are!
Hello Sherri ~ I met you back in 2001 (12 years ago!) when my husband and I along with another couple were involved in a wreck and you were behind us and helped us out as to our rights in the matter. A motorcycle ran into the side of us pretty bad if you recall. I believe you said you lived in Addison, Texas like us. I have booked a trip and will be in Cozumel next Tuesday. Any recommendation on vehicle rental you can suggest for me? LATER: My date and I had a blast in Cozumel. He loved the island. It was a very short trip. I am including a photo of us on the cruise. My family and I have returned to Cozumel many times - it's a favorite destination and we have watched it change over the past 20 years. The Cozumel Insider is a great publication - it's a wonderful way to keep up with the news about one of our favorite islands. We are preparing to visit again this August and the Insider has shown us some different activities to try, as well as helped to bring us up to date with local political and ecological happenings. Your park and staff were first class, professional, friendly and even the dophins looked happy. Thank you for a truly once in a life time experience. We will be leaving tommorrow for 2 week stay at Islamar villas and diving with Dive Paradise. All of this along with a car rental was booked through you guys. Not only did you have a professional attitude through all the e-mails in booking the original dates but at the last minute I extended my stay. You and your staff were especially kind through all of this. You got the car extended and went way out of your way to make sure everything was taken care of, not to mention letting me borrow your personal roller bag to go to the market.
