A Personal Note from Sherri "Season's Greetings & Holiday Wishes !"
Itís incredible to realize but yet another Holiday Season is upon us! I managed to get back to Texas for a few weeks just before Thanksgiving so now my mother will come here for the next few holiday weeks. In preparation for her arrival shortly, Iíve been frantically trying to decorate the place a bit for the festive weeks ahead. I must tell you that itís a real challenge to try to create that ďwinter wonderlandĒ feeling when one is barefoot and sweating bullets whilst dragging out the ornaments! Nonetheless ~ I forge ahead!
The first thing that must be done of course is to actually locate the accumulation of said decorations. So I manage to squeeze through the bodega and find the stuff underneath this seasonís ďjust in caseĒ hurricane prep materials. As I reach for the boxes and lift them over my head to pass them out the door to some one, Iím lecturing myself over having accumulated so much junk in the bodega this past year. Then I remember to be thankful that no storms came our way and none of this stuff had to be used. Of course the cardboard boxes barely make it out of my hands before starting to crumble into a million pieces. HmmmmÖ.tropical mold ~ mildew. Interesting eaters they are...perhaps the same organisms eating oil spills these days! Plastic crates and climate controlÖ.good things ~ when you have access to them!
I then began to sort through this little pile of cardboard covered rubble that just a few months ago was holiday decorations worthy of saving. After a few minutes of poking around amongst unidentifiable green and red stuff, Iím thinking Iím better off just grabbing the strings of lights and hauling the rest to the garbage. So I did just that and created quite a ruckus on the street of course because anytime a neighbor sees anything shiny or glittery sticking out of a garbage sack ~ itís fair game!
Later that night I began trying in earnest to decorate the house for my mom's arrival. I put a pot of water on the stove to boil and filled it with cinnamon sticks. I got out some holiday candles and lit those as well trying to fill the air with a holiday smell to inspire me. I hung some garland, laid out placemats, put holiday hand towels in the bathrooms and trimmed a miniature tree to set on my kitchen bar. Things were moving right along now and the cinnamon was beginning to boil. HmmmmmÖ.those lights I salvaged ~ I could use those wrapped amongst the garland on the stairway banister. So I go over and begin to intertwine the lights with the garland. I was so excited as I completed the first strand of lights that I just had to plug them in and see how it looked. Even though I just purchased these lights last year, over half the lights wouldnít even come on! The annoying part was that those lights not burning were in an organized pattern on the string. So it was not a general failure or operator error but instead simply poor quality merchandise. As I unplugged the string and began untangling it from the garland, that big safety tag they stick on the cord drug through my hand and I flipped it over. Dang. Made in Cheena. Figures!
Guess Iíll just get out more candles and wear red flip flops. ?Is that enough holiday spirit, you think?! As we all give thanks this season, what better place to spend the holidays than right here in Cozumel ~ getting to know the island, its culture and all the wonderful people who call the island home. So come on down ~ we are all getting ready and waiting for you! And if you don't yet have a place to stay ~ I would love to have you with us at my IslaMar Villas this winter season!
I will leave you with the authentic sound of the holiday season in Mexico ~ Mariachi style! Here's wishing each one of you a very "Merri-Achi Christmas" from one of my favorites ~ Mariachi Sol de Mexico! Listen all the way to the end for Silent Night in Spanish! If this doesnít put you in the holiday spirit and aching for a trip to Cozumel, I just donít know what will!!

We cannot begin to express our thanks to Sherri and the staff at IslaMar Villas for our wonderful 11-night stay. This was our third time staying at IslaMar Villas and for us it's the only place to stay in Cozumel. It has truly become our home away from home. We love the apartments, the courtyard and pool, and the warm and friendly neighborhood.
We also used "COZUMELINSIDER" to book our car rental with Avis. It went very smoothly and you guys also helped us trade in our little Chevy Pop for something a little bigger.
A big THANK YOU to Sherri for introducing us to a wonderful private driver on the mainland and for arranging our excursion to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Akumal. We were so happy that we decided to finally venture off the island and go to the mainland to see the ruins. The driver Sherri arranged for us was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we saw things we wouldn't have even known about had we taken the car ferry and driven on our own. To anyone looking for a private tour of places on the mainland, we highly recommend asking Sherri to arrange it for you. It was well worth it!
Thank you again, Sherri! Your kindness and warm hospitality makes us choose IslaMar Villas and your services over and over again. R & M Browning ~ Superior, CO
My family and I have returned to Cozumel many times - it's a favorite destination and we have watched it change over the past 20 years. The Cozumel Insider is a great publication - it's a wonderful way to keep up with the news about one of our favorite islands. We are preparing to visit again this August and the Insider has shown us some different activities to try, as well as helped to bring us up to date with local political and ecological happenings. We're delighted to see the interest in wildlife conservation throughout the area. Keep up the good work on this terrific site. D. McClean ~ unknown
Sherri ~ WOW!!! We just returned from our cruise! What a wonderful time we had!! Your COZUMELINSIDER.com bookings for our Dolphin snorkel adventure and Sea Trek were the highlight of the cruise. They were easy and saved us about half the cost of booking through the cruise line. We simply hopped into a cab and spent the day at the Park (we could have spent a week there.) They were even able to work us into the Sea Trek early. All the people were friendly, helpful and overall just treated us great. While we were standing around waiting a short little man came up and ask if we wanted a snorkel tour. I instantly remembered what you had said and looked at his name tag. It was Mario! His tour was fantastic! If you see him ask him if he remembers SeŮor Ed and his family (he never caught that my name was Ted, but thatís okay!) I had a waterproof digital camera and he snapped lots of pictures of us. We had a wonderful time and much of it was thanks to you, your website and staff!
I know you probably get lots of pictures but I had to send you three. Look at the smiles on my boyís faces. That says it all! Thank you so much for all your help and advice. We canít wait to return. Your website is the first place we will stop! I wish we could have met in person. We will next time! T. Mahler Family ~ Howe ,TX
Sherri, my boss wants you to take down your webcam! It seems it is preventing me from getting any work done! I just stare at it all day. haha I will be there in two weeks. It's been since March since we spent a week there and I'm going through withdrawals. I hope Mezcalitos has the 'ritas ready for me. Jennifer ~ Louisiana
