A Personal Note from Sherri "Halloween & Day of the Dead are Here!"
Sherri Davis - Owner/Operator CozumelInsiderI’ve been AWOL ~ could ya tell??!!
And I guess I must admit that for my vacation I LEFT the island…imagine that…leaving paradise! But October is my birthday month so I felt compelled to celebrate a bit this year and goof off. I went home to Dallas to see family and friends then hit Vegas for a few days (no I didn’t win any money!). Then I focused on wrapping up a remodel job I have going on in between football parties with friends, the State Fair of Texas and Fall Festivals in my neighborhood. So needless to say, despite being a Vegas loser, I had an excellent birthday celebration this year!

And now….it’s here!
My favorite time of year!

The good news is that being in a foreign country for Halloween I never have to worry about a costume for the celebrations. I just put on my tennis shoes, a t-shirt and a ball cap and go as a “Gringa Tourista!” Although one year I did go to a party in one of those pull over black hoods where there is no face…just black mesh. I wore gloves, long sleeves and jeans too so no one recognized me at all! That was pretty cool....until I realized I couldn't eat or drink anything thru the mesh face! "made in cheena design forethought.

Then of course after all that trouble of "cover up" dressing, I had to reveal my identity just to get a beer! It's a good thing I wasn't sleuthing or under cover or anything important like that. It would have all been destroyed for the want of a beer. After pulling off the mask, some one did point out that I could have simply cut a hole in the mesh to make way for a beer...DUH...guess I was having a BLONDE moment then by not thinking of that in my desperation for a beer.

So I’m headed out on the town tonight to see what all is brewing in the cauldrons around town. Supposedly there are events downtown and in the QRoo Park over the next few days as Halloween and Day of the Dead approaches. It’s a warm 80F and a little humid what with the rain we had today but the moon keeps trying to break through the misty clouds adding just the right spooky touch to the night's ambiance!

And what will my costume be then on this Halloween Eve?
Can’t say ~ then everyone would know it’s me!
But suffice it to say ~ this time, it does have a beer hole! ;-)
Boooo to you, too!!

Dear Sherri,
Our family met you just a week ago when we arrived in Cozumel, a little overwhelmed and in need of a hotel. You gave us great suggestions and we had a lovely week at Hotel Cozumel. I wanted to write and thank you for all your time and consideration. We also followed your beach suggestions and had wonderful snorkeling. Thank you, Sherri, for taking the time with us. And thank you for your wonderful website. We wish you the very best in the New Year and always. Foley Family ~ Minnesota

Had a great time liberating baby turtles ~ Will be back to do it again! D. Stachelski ~ Yorkville, Illinois

We will be leaving tommorrow for 2 week stay at Islamar villas and diving with Dive Paradise. All of this along with a car rental was booked through you guys. Not only did you have a professional attitude through all the e-mails in booking the original dates but at the last minute I extended my stay. You and your staff were especially kind through all of this. You got the car extended and went way out of your way to make sure everything was taken care of, not to mention letting me borrow your personal roller bag to go to the market. You extended everything with ease and you are a great asset to Cozumel and Mexico. This will be my 12 th trip and I will never work with anyone else from now on. Thank you Sherri. Jack J. Hey ~ I just wanted to follow up and say what a great time we had swimming with the whale sharks. I also wanted to commend our tour guide Cesar. He was very knowledgeable of the people, the land, the culture, and the history. I would highly recommend him to anybody wanting to tour Mexico.
Thanks again for all of your help, Matt Brosh ~ Austin, Texas

It is very cold here, it snowed last night. Welcome home to us right?! Just wanted to send an email thanking you for making our experience the best ever in sunny Cozumel. We wanted to let you know that the day we spent at your PalMar Beach Club we had your homemade tamales, (which are my favorite, by the way!) and they were excellent. Also we think that you have very good employees, Juan (there at the beach club/your house) we especially appreciated him, he treated us very well and we just wanted you to know that. Thanks again for the ride to the ferry, we made the 10:00! Also we were very thankful for your advice to stay there in Playa. We were able to get a room and just enjoy our last day on the beach which is what I really wanted. We were within walking distance from the bus that took us to the airport the next morning so it was all very convenient. You were very helpful and we will definately recommend your villas to anyone going there in the future. K & J Gilbert ~ Unknown
