Alternatives to Scuba & Snorkeling |
|
Tired of just simple snorkeling and want to get closer to the action? Take a look at some of these alternatives -
Snuba is a shallow-water diving system developed to bridge the gap between snorkeling and scuba diving. There is no safer, easier or more enjoyable way to experience the thrill and wonder of breathing underwater. No heavy, bulky or complicated diving equipment is used and no intensive training or certification is required. The truth is that if you are healthy and can breathe, you meet the requirements to Snuba! Divers breathe using a standard diving regulator which is connected by a 20-foot air line to a tank that floats at the surface in a specially designed raft. As you move underwater, the raft follows you, allowing you to dive to a maximum depth of 20 feet. Because there is no complicated, heavy diving gear involved, you are in full control, free to explore the incredible reefs – relaxed and hassle free.
Sea Trek Helmet Diving is the easiest and most comfortable way to explore underwater. It's as simple as walking and breathing. A space age helmet sits comfortably on the your shoulders while a continuous flow of air provides breathing with ease. Your hair doesn't get wet and you can even wear prescription glasses. The maximum depth is approximately 20 feet. A sea Trek guide wears a helmet while and divers in scuba gear remain with the group.
The 48 passenger Atlantis XII Submarine offers you a chance to experience why Cozumel remains one of the top dive destinations in the world. Diving to depths of up to 100 feet, Atlantis brings you up close and personal with Cozumel's top attraction, Chankanaab, an exciting part of the second largest reef in the world. |
Snuba in Cozumel is a * * * * * experience. There is so much more to Mexico than beaches and cocktails, and snuba is one great water activity to try out. Better than snorkeling, (better than chocolate too), and very easy, especially for those who are a bit intimidated by the scuba diving equipment and training involved, snuba is a great way to see the marine life close-up. The guys at Mayan Paradise Tours explain everything in detail, and make snuba diving easy and interesting. They were a fun bunch of people to spend a half-day of my vacation with! Cheers. Ladies --- I just wanted to thank you so much for helping us with the island tour and the sea trek helment diving ------- both were awesome!
Our tour guide was Humberto ----- great guy --- he sang for us !!!!!!!! He has been to Nashville, TN before ---- he was so knowledgable and so nice. We ran a little late for the sea trek ---- but they took us right in. They too were great -- that was one of the coolest water activities we have ever done. Yes --- we bought the video and pictures ------ we just loved it. Did not have time to snorkel with Mario -- we feard we'd miss the ship ----- but we did not --- taxi took us quickly to the ship as soon as the sea trek was over. I don't know a lot of travelers -- but I would recommend anybody using Yaxkin as a tour company --- as well as the guys at Sea Trek. You ladies were great ---- Thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed The SNUBA and snorkeling trip. It was absolutely breathtaking seeing the wonderful reefs and sea life firsthand. I would say the SNUBA experience made our vacation one of the best ever for us. I was as excited as a Young child in a candy store when I went under with your support staff. Your whole group was so helpful and accomodating to us and I loved the whole experience. Thanks again! We will definitely be back and also tell our friends about the wonders of SNUBA! G. We took advantage of the Sea Trek Helmet Dive and it was outstanding! It is a short 5 minute walk from our ship "Ectasy" and we saved $30.00 per person by using Cozumel Insider over the price offered on Carnival. I would recommend this activity to other cruisers. Thank you INSIDER! Rod and Laura ~ Albuquerque/NM/USA

We travelled to Cozumel in January of 2005 and decided to take a snorkel and Snuba trip organised by Mayan Paradise Tours. My father (age 70) and I had snorkeled, but had never experienced Snuba. Because of my father's age, we were both nervous. However, Eduardo, our guide, was excellent and deserves a special note... he had a positive, patient, and relaxed manner about himself that let us both relax and enjoy our dive. The dive was breath taking. All of the staff was very proffessional, and everyone on the boat clearly had a great time. I recommend this tour to anyone considering it . D. Josephthal ~ South Bend, IN
