This is the most commonly published street map of Cozumel today but
it is far from completely accurate. Be aware that due to recent growth,
the city streets now go all the way back to 150 Avenida.
- Calles (streets) run east/west or perpendicular to the sea. If
you are driving east/west you must stop at every block corner.
- The Avenidas (Avenues) run north/south beginning at the beachfront
and run parallel to the sea. Avenidas are numbered in increments
of 5 all the way up to 150 now. If you are driving north/south, in
theory, you have the right of way and don't have to stop at each
block corner.
Beware . there are exceptions to these guidelines but this gives an overview
of the initial city plan.
- The plaza and Juarez Street are considered
the center of town.
- Avenidas and Calles north of these will be referred to as Norte and
have even numbers of 2, 4, 6, etc.
- Avenidas and Calles south of these will be referred to as Sur and have
odd numbers of 1, 3, 5, etc.

My husband and I lived in Cozumel for just over 6 months and completly LOVED it! We spent most of our time on the other side of the Island where it is just a completely different world. I highly recommend Cozumel to anyone travelling to the Mayan Riviera. I know so many people who go to Cancun, but have never been to Cozumel even though it is only about 40 minutes away! Just want you to know that everything worked out great with LessPay! They honored their web price, let us pick up a day early, and when the car had problems (bad brakes & clutch), they happily swapped it out for another car the next day, no questions asked. We were very impressed with how efficient they were with paperwork, and they even offered to drive us to the ferry when we turned the car back in! Sherri, my boss wants you to take down your webcam! It seems it is preventing me from getting any work done! I just stare at it all day. haha I will be there in two weeks.
