Stay (02/23/2013) - This has been an awesome three (3) months in Cozumel. So sad to go home. Thank you Zuri for everything, you are wonderful. Sherri, you have a great group of people working for you. Thank you very much for everything. Hopefully I will return. I love all the people I met, from everywhere. This is really paradise!!! (10/28/2015) I loved staying here. The purpose of my three-week trip was to improve my Spanish and learn about Mexican culture. This was the perfect place to do it. IslaMar is in a decidedly non-tourist part of town, which means you're far more likely to glimpse the heart and soul of Mexico here than you would be at a beach resort. You'll also save a lot of money on food and rent. I felt quite safe exploring the neighborhood and making the 10-minute walk downtown. If you don't feel like walking, you can hail a cab and ride practically anywhere you want to go in town for under $5.

The owner, Sherri, and her assistant Martin answered all my questions before and during my trip. The on-site staff were beyond friendly, sweet, and helpful with my every need. I asked for a Spanish tutor; they researched candidates and found me a great one. She improved my skills a lot, for very little money, and she was a joy to know. I hope she and I will be friends for life.

The property itself was comfortable and well maintained, with high-quality finishes. I was able to cook well in the kitchenette. The staff will wash, dry, and fold a huge bag of laundry for a small fee, so it's easy to stay here for longer time periods despite packing light.

IslaMar will be my first choice for all future trips to Cozumel. C. Dooley ~ Dallas, TX USA

(05/24/2015) - Our first visit to Mexico and we loved it! IslaMar was perfect for us laid back and very quiet people. Far enough away from all the tourist traps but close enough when we needed that part of it. The staff we met were Nidia, Andrea and Juan – all very helpful and friendly. We used bicycles to get to and from the beach a lot (30 minute rides) and to go to the grocery store and to tour the area! We visited four (4) local restaurants – El Super Hit; Chilango’s, El Mission for lunch and San Carlos for fish – all were very good and helpful with our broken Spanish. Love Cozumel and hope to come back soon! Loved the, the pool, etc.! We used Cozumel Rent-a-Bike – great bikes and door-to-door service! Great service from Martin as well as he arranged a rental car for us very last minute from Bonefish – Awesome Service! G. & F. Bungay ~ Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Stay (02/22/2013) - We have had a great time! We are set to leave and thankful to have met the many people here. We try to stay away from the resorts so we can learn about the community and the people who make the area. IslaMar does that for us! We didn’t get to spend much time by the pool and enjoying the beautiful grounds since our days were spent on the water or under the water, but again, thank you for a clean, safe place to come home to every night. Ed & Kari F. ~ Kent, WA

(03/19/2016) - We visited Cozumel in March 2016 and stayed at the IslaMar vacation rental location for a week. This location is a great place to stay. Cozumel is dominated by the Cruise Ship industry and IslaMar is far enough removed from the crowded areas to give guests an authentic experience of the community apart from the tourist crush. At the same time, if you want to partake of the touristy stuff, it's a 20 to 30 minute walk to the oceanfront and the downtown core. And if you don't feel like walking, there's always taxis coming and going and it only costs a couple dollars to get there. The apartments are spacious and clean, and the grounds provide a nice quiet spot to enjoy the sun and pool. The neighborhood has everything you could possibly need, grocery stores, a bakery, restaurants and bars that are popular with the people who live here. A great perk for guests who stay at IslaMar is access to the PalMar beach club. P. & G. Schincariol ~ Toronto, ON CAN
