Spanish Learning Classes in Cozumel
Vacationing in a foreign land is always exciting and can be a bit scary if English is not the first language of the country you are visiting and you don't know their language!! You could ask some one for a bathroom and get handed a banana instead! The ultimate barrier to remove when trying to learn and understand a different culture is language. Once you can communicate with some one in their homeland and in their language, the final curtain is raised and an entirely different and expanded cultural experience awaits.

When visiting Mexico, most tourist destinations now have a large bi-lingual Spanish/English population and one shouldn't expect to encounter many language barrier problems. However, being willing and able to some extent to communicate in Spanish is very helpful and also alot offun!

If you think you might be interested in learning Spanish before coming to Cozumel, why not visit your local book store and pick up an entry level "Learn the Basics" type of reference book? We also invite you to visit our online comprehensive guide to Basic Spanish Phrases - Cozumel Insider's Spanish Guide. With the bookstore reference text and the Basic Phrases link above as overviews of Spanish language fundementals, you might decide you want to take your learning further while here in Cozumel on vacation.
Learning Basic Spanish in Cozumel
If you are interested in a cursory review of basic Spanish and how to pronounce various words/phrases, there is really no need to pay for a "course or class" to do this! Interestingly enough, because this is a tourist destination, there are many bi-lingual locals who would love to trade time with you and learn too!! They get to practice their English and ask questions while you do the same about Spanish! What a great way to meet new island friends too!! This is the most practical, economical and enjoyable way to see if Spanish is fun for you!

As a day visitor to Cozumel or and extended stay guest....

...just bring your reference book and a printout of the Basic Spanish Phrases guide along with you on your Cozumel vacation. Then visit your hotel lobby, a bar, a restaurant, your dive shop, etc. and ask around to see if there is some one who is interested in sharing this sort of experience with you. Chances are there is some one and the most it might cost you is a couple of tacos or something similar. This gives you the flexibility to spend as little or as much time learning Spanish as you like on your vacation here in Cozumel!

Now.....If you find learning Spanish exciting and challenging and you've tackled the basics and want to move up a notch, then you need a different level of Spanish speaking person to really teach you the fundementals over an extended stay. You need some one trained and skilled not only in speaking Spanish properly but in teaching as well. You will need a Spanish speaking, degreed educator with courses and learning materials designed for those wanting to develop their present knowledge for private, educational or professional reasons.

Hello Sherri ~ I met you back in 2001 (12 years ago!) when my husband and I along with another couple were involved in a wreck and you were behind us and helped us out as to our rights in the matter. A motorcycle ran into the side of us pretty bad if you recall. I believe you said you lived in Addison, Texas like us. I have booked a trip and will be in Cozumel next Tuesday. Any recommendation on vehicle rental you can suggest for me? LATER: My date and I had a blast in Cozumel. He loved the island. It was a very short trip. I am including a photo of us on the cruise. He would like to go back and stay for a few days at your place. Hope you are doing good, please keep in touch. C Bronstad ~ San Antonio, TX

(01/04/2015) - Dear Sherri and Mauricio. Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality, especially they use of your beautiful PalMar beach club! This is our 4th visit to Cozumel and realize that from this trip on, we will only stay at IslaMar. The rooms and grounds are lovely. The staff, Nidia especially, are all so helpful. It is a perfect location to walk to so many of the wonderful places you suggested. See you next year. Good luck in all your ventures Thank you! J. & D. Moorhead ~ Hammonton, NJ USA

(01/02/2016) - IslaMar is a great place set back from the beachfront and big resorts. It is living in Mexico, if you get my drift. IslaMar is back perhaps 6 or 7 blocks from the resorts. We wanted something different this time. I loved being back with the local vibe. There are restaurants with amazing food back here. You walk to them. We walked at night through the narrow streets and visited with the friendly people. We felt safe. I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just telling you what we did. We also rented a small car and went to the beach every day. We found our dollars went a long ways in the grocery store. No place is too far away on Cozumel. Christmas Night we wandered into a park with an amphitheater. There was a clown performing. There were perhaps 200 locals there and we saw one other gringo. I loved being there and watching these beautiful people. They all seemed glad to see us. Is it for everybody? Probly not. There is a nice little clean pool, but nobody is going to bring you a margarita. If you have a hankering for fries at midnight, not going to happen. If you are set on a resort, this is not your place. But If you want to stay in a beautiful affordable villa with super cleaning and other services and run by great folks in the middle of town, you should try this. I love it and can't wait to go back! R. & C. Coburn ~ Terry, MT USA

Sherri, I was browsing Cozumel Websites the last few days. I came across yours. I have never found a website so detailed to a destination in my life! You supply all the information a traveler could ever want!

You give us how to get there, what to do while we are there, where to stay, how to travel, what to do if we get sick, where to eat, and it just goes on and on!

Thank you for taking the time that you spent in making this my new favorite site!

I wish every vacation destination had a site like this! BRAVO! Jim Piere ~ Simi Valley CA 93063

Hello: Sorry about all the calls and e-mails yesterday ~ it appears that we had a problem with yahoo email and receiving your confirmations. But I had your staff send the confirmations to my work e-mail and all is good. Your staff was very helpful, customer service friendly and courteous and I think your agency is great! My wife is a travel/booking agent and she agrees with me and plans to use your services in the future to book excursions for her clients. Thanks again and have a good day; Michael Weinberger ~ not given
