Spanish Learning Classes in Cozumel |
|
Vacationing in a foreign land is always exciting and can be a bit scary if English is not the first language of the country you are visiting and you don't know their language!! You could ask some one for a bathroom and get handed a banana instead! The ultimate barrier to remove when trying to learn and understand a different culture is language. Once you can communicate with some one in their homeland and in their language, the final curtain is raised and an entirely different and expanded cultural experience awaits.
When visiting Mexico, most tourist destinations now have a large bi-lingual Spanish/English population and one shouldn't expect to encounter many language barrier problems. However, being willing and able to some extent to communicate in Spanish is very helpful and also alot offun!
If you think you might be interested in learning Spanish before coming to Cozumel, why not visit your local book store and pick up an entry level "Learn the Basics" type of reference book? We also invite you to visit our online comprehensive guide to Basic Spanish Phrases - Cozumel Insider's Spanish Guide. With the bookstore reference text and the Basic Phrases link above as overviews of Spanish language fundementals, you might decide you want to take your learning further while here in Cozumel on vacation.
Learning Basic Spanish in Cozumel |
If you are interested in a cursory review of basic Spanish and how to pronounce various words/phrases, there is really no need to pay for a "course or class" to do this! Interestingly enough, because this is a tourist destination, there are many bi-lingual locals who would love to trade time with you and learn too!! They get to practice their English and ask questions while you do the same about Spanish! What a great way to meet new island friends too!! This is the most practical, economical and enjoyable way to see if Spanish is fun for you!
As a day visitor to Cozumel or and extended stay guest....
...just bring your reference book and a printout of the Basic Spanish Phrases guide along with you on your Cozumel vacation. Then visit your hotel lobby, a bar, a restaurant, your dive shop, etc. and ask around to see if there is some one who is interested in sharing this sort of experience with you. Chances are there is some one and the most it might cost you is a couple of tacos or something similar. This gives you the flexibility to spend as little or as much time learning Spanish as you like on your vacation here in Cozumel!
Now.....If you find learning Spanish exciting and challenging and you've tackled the basics and want to move up a notch, then you need a different level of Spanish speaking person to really teach you the fundementals over an extended stay. You need some one trained and skilled not only in speaking Spanish properly but in teaching as well. You will need a Spanish speaking, degreed educator with courses and learning materials designed for those wanting to develop their present knowledge for private, educational or professional reasons.
Other Languages are also available! English, French & Italian - Inquire!

Hello my name is Brent C. and I did the Turtle Observation & Release on June 27th. I can honestly not put into words how great and breathtaking the whole experience was! it has always been a dream of mine to watch turtles nest up close and personal but you guys topped that dream and did even better! I almost cried tears of joy when i found out I got to get up close and help remove the turtle eggs as she was laying them! I plan on becoming a marine biologist one day and this whole experience has pushed me farther into my passion for marine biology! I can not say thank you enough! Also cant forget the helpful crew of young men and women that helped us along the night and where ever so kind! Here is a picture of the green sea turtle I named April after she had laid her eggs! Thanks and God Bless Brent C ~ USA

IslaMar was like a little oasis, loved our unit, our favorite time was our afternoons relaxing on the chairs by the pool listening to the waterfall. It was a great place to unwind from the stress of “normal life”! Andrea and Juan were very caring and Sherri is a fountain of knowledge about the island; we ate at many of Sherri’s recommended local restaurants and they were all a hit. You were all charming and we felt nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend IslaMar! L. & M. Widdison ~ Carlsbad, CA USA

(10/14/2014) - We stayed for four (4) days and could not have had a better time at IslaMar and Cozumel. Excellent villa with great location. Sherri and Zuri, you are both so kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Love the places to eat and snorkel. Thank you both! We will be back soon! XOXO T. Lin & A. Perfect Getaway ~ Sherri and her team are full of information and ideas; they make staying in Cozumel feel like home. You can't beat getting away from the tourist traps and enjoying the incredible food and sights of Cozumel. We loved being able to wake up to the quiet pool area to start our day. We made several trips to PalMar where we snorkeled, ate amazing ceviche, and learned all about the butterfly sanctuary. We can't wait to go back, and now we know why so many people come and stay for weeks at a time! J. & B. Johnson ~ Mineral Wells, TX USA
