Spanish Learning Classes in Cozumel
Vacationing in a foreign land is always exciting and can be a bit scary if English is not the first language of the country you are visiting and you don't know their language!! You could ask some one for a bathroom and get handed a banana instead! The ultimate barrier to remove when trying to learn and understand a different culture is language. Once you can communicate with some one in their homeland and in their language, the final curtain is raised and an entirely different and expanded cultural experience awaits.

When visiting Mexico, most tourist destinations now have a large bi-lingual Spanish/English population and one shouldn't expect to encounter many language barrier problems. However, being willing and able to some extent to communicate in Spanish is very helpful and also alot offun!

If you think you might be interested in learning Spanish before coming to Cozumel, why not visit your local book store and pick up an entry level "Learn the Basics" type of reference book? We also invite you to visit our online comprehensive guide to Basic Spanish Phrases - Cozumel Insider's Spanish Guide. With the bookstore reference text and the Basic Phrases link above as overviews of Spanish language fundementals, you might decide you want to take your learning further while here in Cozumel on vacation.
Learning Basic Spanish in Cozumel
If you are interested in a cursory review of basic Spanish and how to pronounce various words/phrases, there is really no need to pay for a "course or class" to do this! Interestingly enough, because this is a tourist destination, there are many bi-lingual locals who would love to trade time with you and learn too!! They get to practice their English and ask questions while you do the same about Spanish! What a great way to meet new island friends too!! This is the most practical, economical and enjoyable way to see if Spanish is fun for you!

As a day visitor to Cozumel or and extended stay guest....

...just bring your reference book and a printout of the Basic Spanish Phrases guide along with you on your Cozumel vacation. Then visit your hotel lobby, a bar, a restaurant, your dive shop, etc. and ask around to see if there is some one who is interested in sharing this sort of experience with you. Chances are there is some one and the most it might cost you is a couple of tacos or something similar. This gives you the flexibility to spend as little or as much time learning Spanish as you like on your vacation here in Cozumel!

Now.....If you find learning Spanish exciting and challenging and you've tackled the basics and want to move up a notch, then you need a different level of Spanish speaking person to really teach you the fundementals over an extended stay. You need some one trained and skilled not only in speaking Spanish properly but in teaching as well. You will need a Spanish speaking, degreed educator with courses and learning materials designed for those wanting to develop their present knowledge for private, educational or professional reasons.

Stay (01/22/2013) - Our stay in #3 Villa was very nice. So great to feel heat in January. Being from Richmond, Maine with temps in the zero’s or below, the heat is how do you say, “muy bueno”! Being here with our family was the icing on the “60th Birthday Cake”! Zuri is a gem and kept the villa in tip-top shape. So pleasant to come back to a clean bed, fresh towels in the banyo. Really beautiful Playa’s and crystal clear water. The neighborhood welcome was homey. All in all a great, wonderful vacation. Tim & Gloria M. ~ Richmond, MA

Stay (04/18/2012) - We have been coming here for years now and this is the only place we would stay in Cozumel! Zuri, Sherri & Manuel are so welcoming and will do anything for you! What a perfect paradise here! Love the remodeling! Looking forward to our next trip. Greg & Glenda W. ~ Austin, TX

Stay (12/29/2011) - Great stay here at Cozumel – IslaMar! Sherri, we wish we could have met you! You were so much help through emails! Zuri & Miguel were helpful and the villas were always clean and tidy! Thank you! I think the villas are a good distance from town as we don’t like too much tourist stuff. Having a nice walk home after a big meal was a relief! Anyways, we decided to get a scooter for 8 of the days and it was useful! Traveling to our favorite beaches on the east coast or to the southern ones like Playa Palancar was made easy! Great place to stay, we had a great time here. Thanks so much to everyone here! Cathy S. & Lickel W. ~ Detroit, MI

IslaMar was a wonderful refuge from Nebraska snow and ice. We thought about a larger, all-inclusive hotel, but after considering the crowds, noise and extra expense, we decided this met “our all-inclusive needs” much better. Privacy, warm hospitality, personalize attention, resident cats, relative quiet, in-room catering (for those who cook) and convenient location. Thanks to Sherri, Zuir and Lisa. Phyllis & Gary L. ~ Nebraska, USA

Stay (01/09/2013) - Our eight (8) nights here in #2 Villa were really enjoyable and relaxing. The weather could not have been nicer for being outside or walking to town or in the neighborhood. The hole fish at Carlos was delicious, food at Los Palmos divine and local “mom and pop” restaurants worth the visit. Zuri is very special and does a great job of cleaning and so pleasant each day. Kathy & Tom S. ~ Grand Rapids, OH
