CAPA, or the Comision de Agua Potable y Alcantarillado, is the "Water Company" here in Cozumel. They are responible for tap water and sewer services. Water bills arrive monthly, and can be paid at their downtown office or at several other local businesses, including Chedraui and San Francisco supermarkets.
While CAPA may call the water they deliver to the tap potable (drinkable), it's not generally considered to be so. Pretty much everyone drinks only purified water that is delivered door to door, or bought in almost any grocery or convenience store. |

The Comision Federal de Electricidad or "CFE" is the national Electric Company of Mexico. CFE bills are delivered, fairly reliably by local standards, once every 2 month billing period. (Rates go up if your consumption of power is very high). Bills can be paid at their office through a teller or at automated bill paying kiosks. It should be noted that the efforts of the CFE and its workers to restore power to Cozumel after the wrath of Hurricane Wilma were nothing short of heroic. |

Find everything you need for construction or home repair here. Exito offers several price points within each line of goods but tends to carry better quality, longer lasting items than other supply houses. A good example would be hot water heaters which here only have a life of a few years at most due to the poor quality of Cozumel water and typical outdoor installation of of the equipment. Exito carries various price point heaters but is about the only place that carries higher quality hot water heaters with a 5 year guarantee. |
