Cozumel Nightlife & Clubs Just because Cozumel is not as large as Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, don’t think for a minute that the streets roll up their carpets when darkness settles over the island! While it is true, just as with any city, some nights are quieter than others, without question the Cozumel bar and club scene is alive and happening now more so than ever! It used to be "back in the day" that there were very few party and dance clubs on the island at all so the choices about where to go were simple. Gringos and tourists typically hung at Carlos n Charlie's for dancing until they closed and then at Joe's for live band music afterward. The locals crowd always went to Neptuno and Scaramuche. But those days are long gone since Cozumel's growth these past few years has caused the nightlife scene to explode into a hip and happening scene where the streets come alive again after midnight with all sorts of music styles and venues! Both visitors and locals alike now have a multitude of party alternatives to keep them dancing and roaming the streets until the last doors close at 5am. No matter if you prefer a hip hop rock beat or the edgy rhythm of techno/new age music or the classic sound of Latin salsa and rumba, everyone can find a place to hang out these days that suits their mood. These days at any given venue there will be a mix of both locals and gringos partying and dancing. Most of the clubs still do not charge a cover and MANY offer “ladies night” and special promotional events. Most of the bars and clubs are in the downtown area located not far from each other. You can easily get from one location to the other by walking, although to get to a few of them you may need to take a taxi. Cozumel is a very safe island. Walking around at night here is common and safe and you will see many people be out and about on foot! Normal safety precautions are all that are necessary. "No Name Bar" Hours: daily 8 am- 8 pm Location: Rafael Melgar at Hotel Barracuda across from Mega Super Store. Poolside Bar and restaurant a favorite with the locals and crew members! Access to the ocean for swimming and snorkeling. Good food and great drinks with music playing daily and a very international crowd! The No Name Bar provides fun atmosphere and the staff is friendly and welcoming! "No Name Bar Cigar Bar" - Cozy Cigar Bar! Hours: Monday- Friday 11am- Midnight Sunday 2pm- Midnight Phone: 987-878- 4020 The No Name Cigar Bar located next to the Hotel Barracuda is a cozy and quiet hide-away where you can enjoy a good cigar, fine wines and tequila tasting. They have a book shelf full of books to read, sporting events on tv, and high speed internet. You can also order food from the menu next door. A nice place to go and relax. "Room Service" 3 Floor Hip Techno Lounge!! "Senor Frog's" - A place to get a little crazy! Location: Avenida Rafael Melgar at Punta Langosta. Services: An island favorite for music, food, and fun! Señor Frog's located at the Punta Langosta mall is a favorite for cruise ship passengers and locals. Lively, fun and entertaining this is a place to go to let it hang out! Music day and night and drinks flowing! "The Pub Sports Bar" - Good food and great place to watch games! Cuisine: Mexican and International Location: 10 Ave Between Rosada Salas & Calle 1 Sur Hours: Monday- Thursday 1pm- midnight Friday and Saturday 1pm- 2 am Phone: 987- 872- 1503 Come to The Pub for great food, and a fun time! Under new ownership and located in the center of downtown this is a comfortable hide-away to watch sporting events, listen to great music, and sing karaoke. They have a full menu and serve a wonderful "menu del dia" for about $60 pesos at lunchtime. “Typical” cantinas are plentiful on the island however these do remain fairly “locals only” neighborhood establishments. Those adventurous travelers who have wandered back into the regular neighborhoods of Cozumel know that there is at least one cantina every block or two in some areas. Cantinas generally won't "turn away" at the door some one wanting a beer…but just keep in mind that patrons are very local and typically not bi-lingual. Also remember that cantinas close the doors at 6pm so they are not options for late late night partying and dancing.
