Since its opening in 2001, the Cozumel Country Club's (CCC) Nicklaus Design Group's 18-hole golf course has been increasingly attracting golfers from around the globe to Cozumel's north shore since it's opening. The course was designed with attractive challenges for players at every level or skill set. Also unique to the course, it was developed and carefully created among the surrounding mangrove marshlands and tropical rainforest, thereby preserving the north shore area's environmental integrity.
 Because of the strong commitment to an environmental program, the Cozumel Country Club became the first of any golf course in Mexico to earn the designation of Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary from Audubon International in March 2006 (renewed certification in 2017 and is 1 of 2 courses now in Mexico with this status). To reach certification, a course must demonstrate that they are maintaining a high degree of environmental quality in a number of areas including:

Outreach and Education
Chemical Use Reduction and Safety
Water Conservation
Water Quality Management
Nicklaus Design Group has successfully balanced the strict requirements of building a first-class championship golf course with the need to preserve the delicate ecosystem of the area. The golf course features channels built beneath roadways and bridges to provide safe passage for blue crabs, iguanas and other wildlife which call this habitat home.
 
Cozumel Country Club is owned and operated by ClubCorp. Members of other ClubCorp clubs in the U.S., Australia and Europe have "Signature Gold" privileges with the CCC facility, allowing them preferred rates and tee times. However, any golfer visiting the island is welcome to golf on this pristine course through advance reservations (and there are even periodic specials available to non-members).
