In years past when the only folks visiting Cozumel were divers, Playa Corona quickly established itself as a favorite hang out because of it's pristine, crystal clear waters and tranquil sunset views.

With its multiple shady palapas and pier, Corona is a great place to relax, have lunch, swim in the secure area in front of the restaurant and palapas or enjoy the excellent snorkeling and diving just off shore.

This sand and ironshore beach area marks the end of the good shallow water snorkeling section of Cozumel as beaches farther south are sandy for hundreds of yards out and cannot sustain shallow coral growth.

For those visitors who would like to avoid the cruise ship crowd when ships are in port, this is a perfect, quiet and tranquil spot since no massive ship tours originate or end up at this beach area.
