Costa Maya - Mahahual Dolphin Encounter |
|
Swimming with dolphins in Costa Maya Mahahual is an excellent option for something to do here since there are currently very few quality tours available in this area. The Costa Maya Mahaual area of Quintana Roo Mexico remains very undeveloped with regard to tourist services, activities and tours. Most tours are only offered informally by "independents" walking along the beach in the old town area.
At the Costa Maya Mahaual Dolphin Encounter, the focus is on ensuring that everyone will enjoy having a high degree of contact with the dolphins and at the same time the trainers will teach you about these amazing animals.
Your dolphin adventure takes place very near the Costa Maya Mahaual cruise ship pier and will start with a short educational orientation with one of our Dolphin Trainers where you will learn a little about the dolphin anatomy and some of its special features and then get into the WATER!
You will enter the water by going down a set of stairs from our dock onto a submerged platform where you will remain for 25 – 30 minutes in waist-deep water. The Encounter starts with a kiss from an Atlantic-Bottle nosed dolphin that will be captured forever by a professional photographer and can be purchased afterward. The program will continue with a Swim-by, where you will get the chance to touch and pet the dolphins, a chance to learn about the anatomy of the dolphin and then on to some very special selected behaviors. The program is completed by giving each guest a chance to have some good quality time with the dolphin where you can ask the trainer any questions you may have about the dolphin.
If arriving by ship, please check with the cruise line what time zone your ship will observe during your voyage so as to book an appropriate time slot. To be safe, book mid day time slots leaving plenty of room on each side of your activity.
Dolphin Discovery Cozumel is located in Chankanaab Beach Adventure Park. As well as offering world class diving and snorkeling from a pristine beach, this beautiful park houses a variety of birds, the sea lion show, a botanical garden, reproductions of famous archeological sites, a typical Mayan village, an underground river, a tropical lagoon teeming with brightly colored tropical fish, restaurants and bars as well as a dive shop and Sea Trek helmet diving. So you will definitely want to allow time to enjoy the park either before or after your dolphin activity. |

Sherri - Thanks very much for your help. I got the confirmations today for both the royal swim and dolphin encounter. I'll definitely pass the word about your great service. thanks! The Rice Family ~ Williamsburg, VA USA

Two friends and I booked the dolphin swim AND got the manatee encounter for 15 minutes for thru Cozumel Insider. The manatee was FREE. The price, including the park, was only $88 when booked in advance. The park fee alone is $21...that's $77 PP for both a dolphin swim with about 11 others, incl. 4 children, AND the manatee. Our party of 3 were the only ones to get the manatee and she was a highlight of our trip. We got to feed her lettuce for almost 15 minutes as the guide explained her life to us. We are grateful for both experiences at such a great price. Thanks, Sherri. I can see where it's harder to find your story on your site. Can you repost it? It's very unusual and inspirational to others. Cheryl & Michael, MA C. Pimental ~ Hingham, MA USA

My husband and I would like to thank you for letting us book our recent Dolphin Encounter with your website. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would recommend anyone doing the late afternoon booking not to eat lunch before you go as they tell you to eat from the buffet BEFORE the actual encounter. Unfortunately, we ate lunch at our hotel before we left and were not hungry when we arrived. The buffet is really nice. More than I expected. Once again, thank you for giving us the chance to experience the dolphins up close and personal. Kind regards, G. Carey G. Carey (March 2017) ~ Kingsville, ONT CAN

First of all, I want to say thank you so much for sharing your wonderful island with my family. Secondly, we did the Royal Dolphin Swim with Dorie and Belle, and it was the most AWESOME time of our lives. One lady in our session cried at the end, saying this was the greatest thing that she has ever done. The Park was beautiful, and everyone was very helpful. Thank you again for a wonderful time. D. My family loved the Dolphin Swim! A once in a lifetime experience. My youngest wasn't supposed to be tall enough to do the swim but they let her do it anyway, with the help of one of their staff. I appreciated that and the kids were all smiles the whole time. The photos they took were great and we bought them - just be sure to bargain down the price! :) S.
