Costa Maya - Mahahual Dolphin Encounter |
|
Swimming with dolphins in Costa Maya Mahahual is an excellent option for something to do here since there are currently very few quality tours available in this area. The Costa Maya Mahaual area of Quintana Roo Mexico remains very undeveloped with regard to tourist services, activities and tours. Most tours are only offered informally by "independents" walking along the beach in the old town area.
At the Costa Maya Mahaual Dolphin Encounter, the focus is on ensuring that everyone will enjoy having a high degree of contact with the dolphins and at the same time the trainers will teach you about these amazing animals.
Your dolphin adventure takes place very near the Costa Maya Mahaual cruise ship pier and will start with a short educational orientation with one of our Dolphin Trainers where you will learn a little about the dolphin anatomy and some of its special features and then get into the WATER!
You will enter the water by going down a set of stairs from our dock onto a submerged platform where you will remain for 25 – 30 minutes in waist-deep water. The Encounter starts with a kiss from an Atlantic-Bottle nosed dolphin that will be captured forever by a professional photographer and can be purchased afterward. The program will continue with a Swim-by, where you will get the chance to touch and pet the dolphins, a chance to learn about the anatomy of the dolphin and then on to some very special selected behaviors. The program is completed by giving each guest a chance to have some good quality time with the dolphin where you can ask the trainer any questions you may have about the dolphin.
If arriving by ship, please check with the cruise line what time zone your ship will observe during your voyage so as to book an appropriate time slot. To be safe, book mid day time slots leaving plenty of room on each side of your activity.
Dolphin Discovery Cozumel is located in Chankanaab Beach Adventure Park. As well as offering world class diving and snorkeling from a pristine beach, this beautiful park houses a variety of birds, the sea lion show, a botanical garden, reproductions of famous archeological sites, a typical Mayan village, an underground river, a tropical lagoon teeming with brightly colored tropical fish, restaurants and bars as well as a dive shop and Sea Trek helmet diving. So you will definitely want to allow time to enjoy the park either before or after your dolphin activity. |

Two friends and I booked the dolphin swim AND got the manatee encounter for 15 minutes for thru Cozumel Insider. The manatee was FREE. The price, including the park, was only $88 when booked in advance. The park fee alone is $21...that's $77 PP for both a dolphin swim with about 11 others, incl. 4 children, AND the manatee. Our party of 3 were the only ones to get the manatee and she was a highlight of our trip. We got to feed her lettuce for almost 15 minutes as the guide explained her life to us. We are grateful for both experiences at such a great price. Thanks, Sherri. I can see where it's harder to find your story on your site. Can you repost it? It's very unusual and inspirational to others. Cheryl & Michael, MA C. Pimental ~ Hingham, MA USA

My husband and I had the "BEST" time at your park. The dolphin encounter was truly amazing! We can't wait to come back and let our children experience it. It is on the top of our "to do" list with our children. Thanks for the exceptional hopitatily! S. and R. Ketron ~ Cincinnati, OH USA

Martin - I just wanted to thank you so much for all your assistance in booking our dolphin experience. Despite the torrential rain (liquid sunshine) on 19th October the girls had a fabulous time at their swim. We loved Cozumel and hope to return one day to see it in better conditions. When I finish our unpacking and get over the jet lag I will do a Trip Advisor review for you! C. McDade (October 2015) ~ Glasglow, Scotland UK
