About Cozumel Insider
Carnaval 2014 ~ Pair of Real Clowns!Since the early 90’s the creators of Cozumel Insider have watched the tourist based economy of Cozumel grow and develop. Long gone are the days when the only nightlife for gringos was at Carlos n Charlie’s or Joe’s.

Those were simple times back when everyone of walking age gathered on Sunday night in the downtown plaza and the main places for gringos to eat were La Choza, Capi Navigante and Ernesto’s Fajita Factory.

Now, each year new hotels and condos are completed, incoming international airline flights multiply and cruise ship arrival numbers continue to grow. As a result, the number of tourism related businesses on Cozumel is constantly increasing as well. There are simply so many choices these days that it can be frustrating when trying to plan a vacation to the island.

Carnavaleros 2008! BandaMex!These days it’s not so much about finding “the good” and avoiding “the bad” anymore in Cozumel because service and quality levels have continued to improve over the years in all sectors of tourism. Rather it is more about trying to ensure each traveler finds what suits their vacation needs and in the process gets to experience a part of this paradise we call Cozumel.

We know the island is destined to continue to change and develop and so shall we as a website in order to best serve travelers who want to visit Cozumel. So no matter if you intend to visit Cozumel for just a day, a few weeks, live here part time or full time, it's certain there is a section of Insider created just for you!

Cozumel Insider is the reliable resource of choice for complete, accurate information about the entire island and surrounding areas.

What Makes Us Different from Other Sites?
Carnavaleros 2005 !!Most importantly, we actually live and work right here on the island. Since we do live here on the island and have for many years, we know lots of folks and we know how things tend to work around here. So Cozumel Insider is our mechanism to try to get travelers the information they need to make the best choices when planning their vacations to Cozumel and then deciding what to do once here. We try to share what we know and what we have learned over the years in order to save travelers time and to minimize their worries.

In the process of providing a general base of knowledge of the island, Cozumel Insider tries to highlight local businesses and services that we personally recommend because we have first-hand knowledge and experience doing business with them. In many cases, the merchants we feature are known only to locals and cannot be found on the waterfront or in any of the cruise ship shopping malls.

Our new design and expanded topics are a reflection of Cozumel Insider's need to grow and share our knowledge of the island as it comes to us. We are very pleased to be featured in Frommer's Cruise Tour Book . This lets us expand our visitors and promote what a great community we have here on this wonderful island!

A Quick Word About Our Advertisers

For over 5 years, Cozumel Insider did not solicit or accept local business advertisers but instead maintained the website purely with commissions earned from tours and accommodations booked by travelers. But costs have increased and the website continues to grow so paid advertising from local businesses is part of our website maintenance strategy now.

So if you enjoy the Cozumel Insider website, find its information useful and
want the site to stay online, please ~

1) Patronize the businesses we feature and advise you found them on INSIDER
as this lets them know advertising with us is a good investment!

2) Bookmark and use this website as often as possible for your tours, lodging &
travel reservations.

3) Scroll to the top of this page and SUBSCRIBE to our Monthly Cozumel Travel Talk Bulletin
as this a great way to learn more about the island and the local tourism industry
advertisers who support our website!

Also, in 2006, Cozumel Insider began displaying the GOOGLE text ad bar at the bottom of each page as well as block ads from various advertisers to help defray website costs. Every click helps so please click through on those ads and check out the products being offered. Hopefully they will be something of use or value in planning a future Cozumel vacation!

Hey ~ I just wanted to follow up and say what a great time we had swimming with the whale sharks. I also wanted to commend our tour guide Cesar. He was very knowledgeable of the people, the land, the culture, and the history. I would highly recommend him to anybody wanting to tour Mexico.

We will be leaving tommorrow for 2 week stay at Islamar villas and diving with Dive Paradise. All of this along with a car rental was booked through you guys. Not only did you have a professional attitude through all the e-mails in booking the original dates but at the last minute I extended my stay. You and your staff were especially kind through all of this. You got the car extended and went way out of your way to make sure everything was taken care of, not to mention letting me borrow your personal roller bag to go to the market. You extended everything with ease and you are a great asset to Cozumel and Mexico. This will be my 12 th trip and I will never work with anyone else from now on. Thank you Sherri. Jack J. Sherri...thank you again so very much for your fantastic website and for your excellent stories on life in Cozumel. We fellow Texans that are not fortunate enough to actually live there are able to do it through you and we are all extremely grateful...and incredibly envious! Having been an airline employee until retirement I have been lucky to have been down island over 20 times and it NEVER gets old. I thought I knew all about Cozumel, but was delighted to learn of new things and places through you and your website. Your current posting of how you came to Cozumel was so cool. You really need to work on that book! Congrats on this milestone, and continued luck and success in all you do. See you in September for our annual trip down for my birthday and Mexican Independence Day. M. Goodwin ~ Dallas, Texas

I just wanted to let you know we really enjoyed our experience with the turtle salvation program this week. It was an amazing evening I will never forget. I will be sure to share the info with my local dive shops and SCUBA club when I return. I know that many others would love to participate and support the turtles. Thanks again and if you could pass along our appreciation to the biologists and other volunteers, we know it is all of your dedication that helps the turtles. J & D Lamb ~ Tucson, AZ
